my blackberry just died on me, for some reason in the middle of the update it just disconnects and fails.. i only get a red light flashing 2 times in 5 seconds.. another dead blackberry.

I would suggest not doing this because 4.5 will brick your BB. It will brick it if the installation fails.
I tried to update my BB Pearl 8110 to 4.5 tonight, and it totally bricked the OS. It would flash red with a black screen. I uninstalled the 4.5 version and installed the 4.3 version. I re-installed 4.3 on my blackberry and right now i'm at a white screen. Hopefully it will restore.
Do not do this update if you want to keep your Blackberry.

This is False! Yes you may get an error when installing but it does not brink it. i have dont it before all you get is an error and all you have to do it install the update a different way
