Extract from the 2 DVD set "Applying the Bowen Technique", produced in association with the Bowen Therapy Academy of Australia, presented by John Wilks, a Bowen teacher for ten years, and filmed by a former BBC film-maker. These are not for training, but rather aim to help Bowen therapists and students apply their skills. They include a short film introducing Bowen, tests and techniques for assessing clients and then a series of real life case studies. More details at www.cyma.org.uk, which also offers books and courses in Bowen Therapy and Craniosacral Therapy. (Click on HD button to see in High Definition)

Why would a Bowen therapist make anyone lie on a hard bed! The whole point is to make sure the person is relaxed before you work on their muscles... before making an appointment it's always best to check that the therapist is qualified and on a professional register...More important, If someone has difficulties lying on a bed they should always be treated in a chair. Bowen works well in the right hands, but there are always good and bad in any profession.

  • @andyeckley

My wife had Bowen treatment for her back pain. They made her lie on a hard bed for a long time with occasional visits to touch her to do their mumbo jumbo "magic". Afterwards she could not move as the pain was ten times worse. There was a student physiotherapist there who just came to observe the Bowen treatment. He said to us that he would not like to see his own mother treated and suffer like that. So in reply, we did have a course of Bowen tratment and did learn the truth.

  • @Taijimad ...very puzzling logic there! Swinging in a hammock is relaxing, but will that fix your tight hamstring that's giving you backache?

  • So THIS is how Bowen does it...

  • this technique works well. I use light axis healing and reiki. most things heal.

  • I'm always surprised by how many people expect healthcare providers to work for free. Yes, we should all be charitable as much as possible. But even healthcare providers need to eat and provide for their own families. When we're able to pay for service we shouldn't expect it free. Even scriptures say the labourer is worthy of his hire. (Luke 10:7)

  • @sharrynuk actually there are lots of reasons why it should work and obviously does work given the thousands of people who benefit from this treatment

  • @petrapetruta Well of course youtube is completely free which is great. The intro video only sells for £5 plus postage which is about as cheap as its possible to do it. As far as I know Tom Bowen charged for his treatments but also did a lot of charitable work as do a lot of Bowen therapists too, so his tradition lives on...

  • I know that Tom Bowen has received the gift from God...,so how come you sell it for so much money..,does the God requested this too..???If the God would want us to cure ourselves shouldn't be absolutely free of charge..???

  • Where is the evidence that this therapy works? There's no reason it should work.
