Lincoln and Grant both allowed the rebel soldiers to take home their rifles. So even a liberal yankee that went to war with the south understood the importance of gun liberties.

@hapspir Sir, if that is true then that means they already have plans to do just that. It is only a matter of when they intend to pull the trigger on those plans. It's just a matter of staffing those plans with manpower and bullets.

yes he was moron. there were only 2 political parties at the birth of this country. Federalists and Democratic Republicans. Nowadays, the army is routinely asking soldiers if they would be willing to disarm their fellow countrymen--their own family members. Those who say "yes" may be getting ready to participate in nationwide gun confiscation. Don't let what happened to the victims of Katrina happen to you. Let the politicians know that we mean business. Only vote for candidates who STRICTLY defend the Constitution. I want to avoid the necessity of shooting at a gun-disarming patrol.

Well, they have passed many restrictions, bans on certain types, etc. and people have done very little. We've encouraged them to push further by not fighting harder against them.
