Rod & Honey are the cornerstone of Mighty Flyers, here they are telling anecdotes of Jimmy Reed George "Harmonica" Smith, Howlin Wolf, Big Joe Turner, Pee Wee Clayton
Listened to Rod for over 30 years, and he just gets better. I do think Rod should do one album that would really push his chromatic talents further...something like "Rod Piazza Does the Standards". I know most old standards are not blues per se, but I'll bet Rod could make them sound awesome. I'm thinking numbers like Gloworm, Opus One, The Story of the Blues...etc. Rod could make great numbers sound amazing. Just a musical fantasy I have...Rod should try it.
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF JAMES BOTT IS STILL DRUMMING FOR THE BAND,,,AKA THE KID. HE WAS MY DRUMMER IN A BAND CALLED MANNA BACK IN THE LATER PART OF THE SEVENTIES.
I posted the boogie woogie that they ended with in this excellent interview on my channel. There's also more from this interview there too. The song is called "Stinger".
Thanks so much for sharing this video with us. People in the blues business dont get enough coverage. It's great to hear the backstage stuff and how that got to where they are.
