Taken from another source is the opening credits from ATWT which were used (with orchestral music) from 1973-81.

  • 1978- this was the episode where Chris decides to retire from his law practice.

  • Seeing the ad for Duncan Hines makes me hungry. Duncan Hines over Betty Crocker anyday, they're more creative and more marketable with their products. If you wanna save soaps, then it's time to dump our financial system that's consumer driven, and go back to a more physical economy where everyone will have a job again, by rebuilding our infrastructure, cities, transportations, nuclear power, and our educational system. And damn good wages would enable husbands to carry the entire family.

  • Vintage, Classic Americana from the 1970s. THANK YOU!

  • This opening always made me think some world-class motion picture was about to appear on my screen. This music always sounds like you have to watch or else.

  • Bring back awesome memories don't it? :)

  • Love the full orchestra- and in full color!! A time capsule!!

  • @LaurenLover81 Hi Laren - I'm with you 100 percent regarding Duncan Hines. I'm a scratch baker, but if I had to use boxed cake mix, it would always be Duncan Hines. My mom made the best desserts our family ever had using DH -- including Sock-It-To-Me Cake and her wonderful pineapple and cherry cheesecakes, in which the cake mix was used to make the crust. How's that sound with a good cup of coffee?

All of the P&G soaps bring back these great memories. I will truly miss them all.

  • @soap1919jt

    Agreed... 1,001 percent!

While not spending much time with soap operas, which house in America wasn't this classic introduction heard? Thank you!

  • Wow! So warm and full . . . the best of 'em all.

  • @Oakdalian They don't CARE!!! If they did they would have watched ATWT and it would stil be on. The young people CONNECT with Jersey Shore and Real Housewives.

Heck the older crowd back in 1973 did not care for "The Young and the Restless," and that was a scripted daytime drama. Eventually the other daytime drams got the memo and made changes. Biggest one DITCH THE ORGAN!!!!

  • @donmccullen They're not watching them enough to be tired of them. And they sure as hell aren't going to get a sense of history and character development from Snooki or the Real Housewives.

  • @LaurenLover81 and your taking like a Marxist. Change is a way of life and Marxism will not nesscary save your favorate shows. The young people are tried of these old horces.

  • @tomk773

You are correct: the current Chris IS a doctor (pediatrician). The Chris who retired from his law practice in 1978 was his grandfather who was married to Nancy (before she married Dan McClosky after the elder Chris passed on).. Their youngest child Bob is Dr. Chris' father by his wife Kim.
