Using Dynamic Cell Models from Cell Zone (www.cellzone.org) is a great way for students to learn about cells. When modeling plant cells that store starch, amyloplasts are often important. For example, banana and potato cells have many amyloplasts. Because plastid size can vary, two different sizes of amyloplasts are included in the Dynamic Cell Model kit. In addition, those amyloplasts can be modeled whole or in halves, just like the other components of the kit.
