There were some parts of Khorasan that were conquered by sekandar like Bakhtaria and Herat. You know sekandar had (acording to the Greeks) an army of 40.000 soldiers whos every soldier each had a spear of 12 to 13 meters long. so 40.000 soldiers all with spears. They conquered all these flat cities, but they could never conquer the mountainious regions like Badakhshan, Salang-Pass, more inner moutainious parts of Shamly like Jabul Saraj (=high mountain), Panjshir etc.
