In 1952, sponsors usually "controlled" the program they sustained, to the point that the star of the show (and sometimes, with fellow cast members) delivered an "integrated commercial" for the sponsor's product at the end of the show: "THE GOLDBERGS" was no exception. Gertrude Berg, however, usually tailored her pitches as "Molly", instead of reading straight ad copy (she did the same when "pitching" her alternate sponsor's vitamin products).
