Hector was the first from his dirt poor Guatemalan village to go beyond 6th grade. Expectations for boys like him were limited to working in the field. With an ITA scholarship at Universidad Francisco Marroquín, Hector is a top student in business administration. His example is inspiring more children in his village to stay in school and to dream bigger.

  • I want to congratulate you on your success and know that many people of Mayan ancestry are watching with pride in their hearts. Your success demonstrates that Mayan intellect is not dead but only dormant. Opportunities such as ITA and others will bring back our intellectual past. Our ancestors studied mathematical and astronomical concepts that continue to impress archeologists that study our history.

I wish you success in your future endeavors.
