  • @estafel True dat. But at least the legislature was more educated about this issue.. and that is why it is now illegal to flush litter and litter companies must place a notification of this on their bags. So hopefully, that is how californians will become better educated about this issue.

  • @legzonwheelz "at least in more educated areas like California" double oxymoron

  • @mcdjay use litter kwitter

  • Forgot to flush.

  • ummmm, is a little cat poop in the ocean really any worse than the obscene amount of kitty litter we put in landfills every year? Which is the lesser of two evils?

  • They have different parasites in their digestive system.

This microorganism isnt naturally found in the ocean environment, but it is killing Sea Otters. Marine biologists have determined that the microorganism is getting into the ocean through cat feces: the T. gondii life cycle can only reach a stage hearty enough to survive the marine environment in cats, and when the organism is shed in cat feces it can wash away into the marine environment. "

  • why is cat feces worse than human?

  • omg that is sooo cool

  • If your area of Cal. is worried about flushed scat then it needs to join the 21st Century & process their sewage in solid waste treatment plants like the rest of the US rather than dumping it into the ocean! Scat is the least of the otters problems. The Department of Environmental Conservation says pollutants like mercury, cadmium, pesticides, PCBs, and organochlorine compounds are more serious to their well being. Since they're semi-aquatic land traps & predators reduce their numbers as well.
