I feel this game chronicles the abusive relationship between SEGA and hardcore Sonic fans. SEGA repeatedly beats them about the head with crappy games, but Sonic fans remain starry-eyed and defensive. "I can change him!" they cry, no matter how many black eyes they have to explain away with "I mach speeded into a door."

This game (and this stage) was the final straw, the proverbial hospital trip that forced an intervention. Fortunately, SEGA got counseling, and we're much happier now.

Continuing from Part 42... The Time Rifts come in two flavors...

The Purple ones cause insta-death if you touch it, AND ALSO SUCK YOU AND YOUR RINGS IN, but thankfully they also suck in enemies as well.

The Orange ones hurl many differents things at you that can screw your jumps or worse.

This wouldn't be so much of a problem, if not for the fact that they're placed about everywhere for a extreme artificial difficulty spike.
