I was very impressed with these! The London Hotel clearly went above-and-beyond when designing the cabs for these elevators! Mirrored muntz metal on the COP and call buttons, velvet-applied walls, carpeted floor, a leather handrail, and some dramatic lighting. Quite impressive.
I'm not exactly sure what Otis fixtures are these. The lobby call buttons are customized Monitor TR stuff, while all other all fixtures are Otis Series 1. The COP is the mystery - I believe it's an earlier form of Series 4, or, more likely, Series 3, as this place was built in 1990. This place was renovated in 2006, but (with the exception of the TR stuff) I think the hotel held onto the original fixtures. Series 1 was discontinued by 2006.
I film both banks of elevators in this video.
Brand: Otis
Installed: 1990
Machine: Gearless Traction
Floors Served: Low Rise: L, 2, 4 - 24 High Rise: L, 2, 4, 25 - 54
Fixtures: Series 1/Series 3/Monitor TR
Fear/DT Index: Low. High-Rise shakes a bit.
Yes, but then why would the London go for Monitor fixtures for the lobby areas. I think they just left in the Series 1 stuff on the upper floors and used Monitor to replace the hall fixtures on the lobby floors so that they would be mounted on those nice leather panels.
