Barbara Davis Centers for Childhood Diabetes published a study that found autoimmune diabetes is an allergic reaction to the insulin your body procures. This results in autoreactive T-cells attacking the beta cells reducing insulin and C-peptide production. If you had a child with newly diagnosed insulin-dependent  diabetes or you are an adult with LADA would you choose to treat an allergy to human insulin with a faster acting rDMA synthetic human analogue?  A safer, cost effective, complication-reducing insulin choice is on its wayTo SUBSCRIBE to future blogs, please visit: http://www.alliesvoice.com

  • I hear you on the sympathy card. LoL The best insulin is definitely to each his/her own. Youre 110% right on that one ;)

  • I had an episode last year where I think gastroparesis was the 'culprit'. I had to start earing smaller meals more often throughout the day to let my body digest at a comparable rate. I was diagnosed at age 7 - July 1985. I wear a Minimed insulin pump and I use highly purified pork regular insulin. Works like a champ :)

  • good job in teaching Allie!

  • i was diagnosed with diabetes when i was 1 and a half years old , i'm almost fourteen almost now (meaning i have it for 12.5 years now) and nobody even has sympathy with me lol.

and to 'What is a better insulin for Diabetes?' There is no 'better' insulin for anyone... each person has different types of insulin =p

  • I AGREE !! ..my boyfriend of nearly 5 years was diagnosed at age 19 last year and they were goin around because he D0ES make insulin -- but like the autoimmune theory, he cannot use his own he has became resistent to it -- which they say may be linked to where after that he was diagnosed with hypothyroidism -- another autoimmune condition. he takes novolinR on slidng scale, lantus 45units at nite; and eats 69g carbs per meal; his A1C 12.3@ dx, been 5.6% since 4mnths after with great control :D

  • Hey about the digestion issue, I use a natural vitamin called Fusion Liver Tonic and Fusion Detox. Works for me. I also use Kidney Tonic just to try to protect my kidneys from diabetes complications. I believe you can buy this stuff on line, but yeah the Detox and Liver tonics I know works well.

  • Hey Allie great vid

Just wondering how difficult it is to get pork insulin? Where is it made?

I may have to ask my doctor if its available here in Australia. Does your pork insulin work like Novo Rapid, that it quick response? Is there a Levmir pork equivalent?

  • On a semi, somewhat related topic. I am wondering,if you, like me have gastroparesis (delayed processing of food). If so, do you use the pump or do you give individual injections?? I am very sick of wearing the pump!

At what age were you diagnosed and what kind of insulin do you take?

    Tx,
