This was more of a promotion of Dave being in Japan than dave doing Toshiba commercials here. Dave was a the special gues on a variety show one late night and those clips were only shown during that program. Dave hasn't done any commercials here.

Well regardless of the reason he is promoting a specific product a T.V. and a VCR they had him do this because those particular models were not selling well.
