Tammy was a fashion doll created by the Ideal Toy Company that debuted at the 1962 International Toy Fair. Advertised as 'The Doll You Love to Dress,' Tammy was portrayed as a young American teenager, more the girl-next-door than the cosmopolitan image of Mattel's Barbie, or American Character's Tressy.

  • Hehe Tammy doll came out the same year my mom was born. And they even have the same name too.

  • Tammy was a cute looking doll. I guess barbie was more popular so poor Tammy was taken off the market, Was this doll designed after the Debbie Reynolds Tammy song and movies? I'm guessing this was the late 50s or early 60s.

  • @olddude521 In terms of commercial broadcasting to a mass audience, television started in the 1950's. Ballpark about 50 years ago. Take it easy old dude, no one's stepping on your lawn.

  • @olflatop TV was not "new" 50 years ago. HOw old are you or where have you been?

  • America still is a pretty bizzare place, but it seems like it used to be much more so about 50 years ago if commercials like this are any indication. Back when TV was new. Very strange.

  • I remember this doll, just loved her.
