I had the pleasure to work with Aaron Marks, owner of the company On Your Mark Music Productions. We were contracted by a video game company to field record various modern military battle vehicles. It took about a year to fight and get official permission to gain access and to record for a week at a military base in the desert at sunny California. The M1A1 Abrams Battle Tank is The Best! Not only did we record the tank, but we also took a nice ride on it! :-)

  • @ ao10s: No, this was for the title Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising by the video game publisher Codemasters in England.

  • so can you share those sounds please?

  • @imlatinoguy || No, the video game maker Codemasters own the rights.

  • FFirst of all, I am not qualified to make any professional comment about the audio production industry; I am just a normal person that can appreciate gaming and movie sound effect. This video is really informative. After the initial eye candy (thanks!), you start to appreciate how much work is involved in having realistic sound. I had thought most sounds effects was synthesized. Very cool!

  • Thanks "wasegroup"! The selling point to this particular game is to use "realism" of modern military vehicles (Real Active Military Vehicles like the M1A1 Abrams battle tanks, and Real active Weapons). Watch for the release of this game in the fall, 2009. It'll be on PS3, 360, and PC.

  • Thanks for the kind words. Glad you like the video. The best part of this recording session that we did, was that I got to ride on the top of the M1A1 Abrams tank, next to the commander!

  • It must be exciting to work so closely with the Military, and I am professionally jealous. Those of us who are audio enthusiasts always appreciate seeing the masters do their work. I am really looking forward to hearing these sounds in game.

  • why still use music background?

    suck music background!!!

  • Is this for BattleField 3?

  • This is a great behind the scenes look at sound design and capturing all the mechanical sounds from militarty vehicles. Not to mention that it's cool to see tanks!
