If anyone is vaguely bothered: i studied geology at college (u.k) and we got taught that it is common knowledge amongst geologists that a pole reversal will happen, it happens every so many millions of years (as is seen on the polarity/alignment of metal in rock produced on the ocean bed (M.O.R). It has been overdue for about 5000 years if i remember the figure correctly, so it could have happened any day up until now. There is just as much chance of it happening tomorow as dec 21st.
