Your condenser unit is way to close to the outside wall. I cannot circulate the air properly. Nice video however.

Which part of the Maritimes do you live in? I'm in NB and worry it will be inefficient once the cold hits next winter.

Nice vid. Is that outside unit little too close to the wall?

Quick update: I've had the unit for over two years now and I've yet to have the unit fail to keep our house warm, even at temperatures below -24C. Our heating bill is still around $350-$400/year at .12/kWH. I've since moved the unit 4 inches from the wall (as noted in comments below). It did seem to help with the accumulation of snow behind it but that's about it. So far I'm extremely impressed and I continue to be impressed with our lack of heating bill!

Unit is 3.5 inches from house -- install specs say 3 & 15/16 inches. So, ya, I'm under by a but -- certainly not a lot.

Hi there,
I live in Saint John, how is your Diakin working? Is it indoor unit on an inside or exterior wall?

@MrPaulmegan Yes, outside wall. However you can mount the unit on an inside wall. There are height and length limitations. However, the installation options are very flexible. That being said, the easiest method for a contractor is directly on the outside wall but that doesn't mean you should put the unit in a location that is unsuitable. It's important to have the unit mounted where it is the least unobstructed by doorways, and anything that will impede airflow.

Thanks -- so far so good with our mild winter. It did hit -13C and the unit had no trouble keeping the house warm. Someone really has to re-write a few "sustainable living" books. I went through 3-4 of them at the book store and they all said air source heat pumps are best suited for South-East US (Florida, basically). Unbelievable!
According to the specs I need a few inches space from the house which I have so no problem there.
