NHL on USA Network opening, Game 6 playoffs, Montreal versus Quebec 4/20/84. In the mid 80's, the USA Network was the main TV carrier for NHL hockey in the United States. ESPN would take over in the 1985-86 season. Oddly enough, this game would infamously be known as the "Good Friday Massacre" game as an all out brawl broke out between both teams.
How come that he could see only 21 banners for SC victories on the rafters? Since then, Habs have won only 2 other Cups and if I'm not mistaken, they have recorded 24 wins overall. Unless they sort of disowned the very first Cup of theirs won in 1916, yet in the pre-NHL era. Which wouldn't be, though, comprehensible nor logical since it's, first of all, still the same franchise and secondly, who would be that stupid and deprive oneself of a certain accolade?

I saw this game as a kid. 83-84 season introduced me to hockey. USA did great coverage of the NHL then. Can't stand hockey on TV now. NBC/Versus coverage is awful and plus the shootout is a joke. Hopefully, with the new contract, NBC will use all their networks(including USA) to show the SC playoffs so I can see them.
