This is neat - Bob Barker does his usual showcase reveal, reminds us to control the pet population... and then, over the credits, gives a special reminder to 10 viewers to stay tuned for the news, which immediately follows. This is accompanied by Renee doing an audio tease for the news at noon. The Barker plug was sadly dropped about a year or so later when 10 started split-screening TPiR's credits. 3, sadly, didn't promote TPiR nearly as much as 10 did.

Then, it's the channel 10 news at noon, with Tim Lake, Renee Chenault, and John Bolaris. Tim and Renee were originally paired at noon, but have stayed with the station and are now the co-anchors of the 11pm news. The top story, of course, is the winter of 1994 in which snowstorms seemed to hit almost daily.

Apologies for the loud hissing noise in this video. This was recorded when we didn't realize that you want to hit the volume buttons on the TV remote, not the cable one. I've tried to make the sound audible, but this is unfortunately how the clip was recorded.

  • Yes, TPiR was quite possibly the last show on television to use an old-style credit roll and handmade, keyed-in graphics. They did go to electronically generated graphics not too long after this, maybe a year or two after...

  • @silverliner269 Yes, they were. Same as in 1972 -- it's even the same font. They didn't go to electronic graphics until '98, at least. That Television City graphic was the same one used on All In the Family and Good Times.

  • That will not happen, unless you're living in Boston. That station will be changing affiliations anytime soon.

  • They tried electronic graphics for a short time in 1988. It went over like a lead balloon with viewers. So they finally switched for good in May, 1996.

  • Bob: And be sure to catch us on Channel 3 starting sometime next year! Can't explain right now, but you'll see it happen, trust me! (Thought I'd add that in)

  • Are those credits being shot by another camera and keyed out? I mean, I know TPIR had a 70's vibe to it, but the production didn't have to reflect that...
