Well, my bike went crunch, and here's why...
The dogs on 6th gear, instead of having a straight profile, are cammed over. The dogs push themselves out of mesh. Great, I was right about the problem all along! Anyway, I thought I'd highlight the problem, and also go over motorcycle transmission basics at the same time. If anyone has any questions, just ask!

  • Everything is fixed boss, cost only 100 bones. Can u do a how to video on advancing and retarding timing next? Thanks again!

  • Well, this bike, and most new ones have CDI ignition, and you cannot change the timing. Unless there is a special way, I don't know.

  • @Nelso90 did you have to take off the pistons, cyls, rods, crank and split the case halves to replace the gear dogs? how did it only cost you 100 bucks did you buy the gear used? the dealer told me they dont make a 6th gear anymore

  • @anon7091 Oh no, I never touched the power side, only the transmission. The cases had to be split though. And it cost me WAY over 100 for it. More like $400.

  • Depends. You definitely have a problem, but it's hard to say without actually looking it over. It could be a worn shift fork, or even a worn cam in the selector drum. It cost about 400 for my bike, but yours is ten years newer, so it'll cost less if the same thing is wrong.

  • Sucked then, but she runs now,

    like a raped ape!
