Ok, so it looks like I have to switch up how I do my Sevendust cover videos. Warner Music Group is being a huge pain and deleting my cover videos!!! So I've decided to switch up the format and start recording EVERYTHING. By not having the original track in my videos, I'm hoping it will keep me under the radar enough to keep doing what I do. Driven was one of the two videos that were deleted, so I figured this was a good song to test this new direction. This video is just a proof of concept, so feedback on how much you like it and how to improve the format would be greatly appreciated. And please vote for what song from Cold Day Memory you want me to cover first, aside from Forever Dead of course.

The guitar is a Dean Hardtail Select. I switched out the stock bridge pickup for a Dimarzio Super Distortion. I now play through a Randall RM100 head going into a Mesa Boogie 2x12 cabinet. The Randall's modules are the Blackface for my clean channel, the Ultra for my main distortion channel, and the Ultra XL for my solo channel. The amp is mic'd with a Shure SM57 dynamic microphone. The bass is a cheap Yamaha running through a Line6 PODxt Live. The drums were programed on my computer via Drumsite. Obviously I don't have the voice of Lajon, so I try to make it my own.

  • Hey, really awesome work! Your covers are some of the best I've seen on Youtube so far.

One question though: what effects do you use on the "morgan rose vocals"? Sounds very much like the original and I just can't seem to work it out.

  • @NewerBridge Thanks for the support! I really don't use any effects on Morgan vocals. The only thing I do is record each line twice and then pan it left to right. Other than that, it's just learning the proper technique for screaming. It's also important to recognize the Morgan screams actual notes just as you would if you sing cleanly. If you just scream your head off, it's kind of a crap shoot. For me, control is the name of the game.

  • I like the way you used to cover the songs so you could learn them. But if you still tab the songs out it'd be cool too.. But my vote for your next would be splinter or srong arm broken.

  • @StanginandBangin Yeah, I'll still be doing tabs for every song I cover from Cold Day Memory. I'll also add another angle to show close ups of the intricate parts. Thanks for the input, it helps to know that people still want the learning aspect from these videos.

  • Awesome workaround to WMG crackdown, and enables you to showcase your talents... well done.

One thing I liked from your previous style change was how you showcased both guitars simultaneously. In your new style you could set up a 4th camera shot just to the left or right of your current guitar shot to demo both John & Clint's pieces, and if it's not too corny do a split screen of yourself in those two spots during key collaborations. or not. Just keep up the good work, awesome covers!

  • @H0TR0D33 Thanks for the input! That's actually more or less what I've been thinking of doing. I'm just gonna do split screen for those specific sections that have two distinct parts going on. I'll probably do the same with vocals. Going between Lajon, Morgan, and Clint sometimes is impossible to make look believable in one shot. I already learned that with this video.

  • That was amazing and I really want to learn this song on guitar but there are no tabs for it. You should tab it
