CUGS Global Vantage Point Lecture Series: "Urban Podunk: The East Hartford Story," presented by Nick Bacon, Trinity class '10, PhD student in Urban Anthropology at CUNY. Once so rural and peripheral that the word 'podunk' was named after it, East Hartford later became an industrial giant and model suburb, only to recently undergo drastic disinvestments and socio-spatial transformations which rival Hartford. In his talk, Nick Bacon explores Hartford's dynamic but rarely discussed neighbor, and outlines his theory of the 'urban podunk.' Presented on February 21, 2012 at Trinity College, Center for Urban and Global Studies.
