As part of its efforts to utilize ICT as a bridge for social and economic development across the Middle East and North Africa, IJMA3 implements an annual ICT Summer Camp, called Tawassol, for youth at the University of Balamand, Lebanon. Tawassol, which means Communication in Arabic, was developed in partnership with the Partnership for Lebanon (PFL) and Information and Communication Technology for Development in the Arab Region (ICTDAR), and brings together around 100 youth between 14-17 years old from across Lebanon and, at times, the region. The ICT Summer Camp is the first of its kind in Lebanon, and uses a multi-disciplinary approach in bringing youth together to equip them not only with the technical skills they need to succeed in the future, but also the confidence to apply those skills in the future towards participation in a peaceful and engaged civil society within Lebanon.
