Travis Orbin - The Countdown Starts Now Session - "The Fight"

The fourth video in this series was actually the first tune that I tracked; it possessed a pre-existing drum track that I pretty much altogether abandoned. It's really easy to slip into the same grooves for this material, so I made it a point to play something different -- no matter how slight -- just to avoid any potential staleness. This is another one where I felt that the hi-hat chicks 'fit' during the choruses for whatever reason, heh.

Notes:
1:10 - cool linear fill-in

1:32 - 3-8 splash cymbal superimposition for color
2:11 - 2:28 - hi-hat chicks on the 2&4
last chorus - left-side crash accents every two bars instead of four (like the previous choruses) just before a big ol' half-time groove


The fifth and final video of this series will be the most 'drumtastic,' but my 100th clip will be something fairly special/unique. Coming soon!
