Sorry, wasn't trying to give a history lesson. I was simply conversing. I didn't see the doc (but American Masters only does tributes), so I don't know what was or wasn't mentioned. I was just stating some things I know, and am obviously not aware what others here know about Baez. And what's wrong with a tribute? I meant it as a posivtive. She deserved it.

All those points are pretty much stated in the documentary, no need for a history lesson there. Tribute, really? Her bravery within the causes for the dispossesd etc. are there as well, but I guess you know that too. A fine doc. nonetheless.

If you're speaking to me....no I didn't. But everybody says great things about you in that type of DOC. It's made as a tribute. I liked Baez, but she never made it big as a songwriter. In fact, at the height of her fame, she always performed other peoples music....For, the most part, she did not write her own songs. She gained a lot of extra miles in her career, singing mostly Dylan songs, at one point.

You're a wise women, Claire. And we're both stating what should be blatantly obvious to anybody following Bob's career. He was too brilliant for any one person to have made his career...or hold it back.

The facts stand. Still, I think that your point was, more or less, already put in a few words, however, I guess you didn't catch the doc. either, huh?

I agree with you..Baez gave Dylan a step up.. that is all. And as she was such a big fan of his music and talent, she obviously wanted to.

You can make your point without name calling. My response was to somebody who said Bob would have BEEN NOTHING if it wasn't for Baez. She gave Bob early visisbilty. But many in the "folk community" were enthralled with Dylan, and his talent was so obvious, he would have made it just as big with or without any one person's assistance. He was already making a big name for himself in the Village folk community.. the epicenter of that type of music. Heard the song many times. It's terrific.

It HAS been written several times that Joans' success DID, in fact, pave the way for Dylan's emergence into the public eye. That is not saying he would NEVER have made it without her, dipstick!! Nice recent documentary by the BBC on Ms Joan recently, with Dylan rightly giving his admiration for her AND this song, in particular! Did you catch it?
