this is my Ronroco version of Pajaros by Gustavo Santaolalla.. the tabs can be found here...
http://charangotabs.blogspot.com/2010/10/pajaros.html
again... they are a bit rough so if anyone has any suggestions about how it should sound it would be great to hear them.

The Ronroco is tuned to DGBEB and is strung with charango strings (ronroco strings get very tight (or loose)at this tuning)

the ronroco is made by Humberto charango - you can find their website on google

  • @oldno7uk Since you have both a Charango and a Ronroco, I was wondering if you could tell me which you prefer. I'm thinking of buying one or the other, and since it seems like a Ronroco can be tuned like a Charango (with the right strings), you can effectively get both by just buying a Ronroco. I really love the Santaolalla sound but would like to have some flexibility. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

  • @johannesrlohmann Hey.. I love the Santaolalla sound too. Since I got my Ronroco I have rarely used my charango so i would recommend the Ronroco. It is quite a different sound though so i'm not certain you will be able to reproduce the classic bolivian charango tremolo sound with a Ronroco (but you might be able to)

  • Beautiful song- any chance you could make a tutorial for this? Learning charango in uk is a bit of a lonely business.

    Thanks

  • @djch123 Hey. I look forward to hearing your version of this - i will try to get a tutorial together but it is quite a tricky piece (not difficult really just fiddly) any part you are having particular difficulty with?

  • hey man where did you learn to play this or get the tabs? I'm really interested in learning a few songs by gustavo santaolalla and even purchasing one of these instruments! :) Plz let me know how you learned how to play this amazing tune! And great job at playing btw! :)

  • @Guateparasiempre1 hey dude.. I had to pick up the tabs by myself (i also used a bit of software that slows down the track but keeps the pitch the same to help) there is a link to the tab for this song in the description and i am working on endless flight from babel at the moment- i will put the tabs on the blog in the link when i have it figured.

Thanks for the compliments too - My playing isn't amazing but with a bit of practice i might be close to Gustavo S by the time i reach his age :p

  • Thank you very much! But could you make a little tutorial, please? There is a big problem with a right hand, for example... Nevertheless for me...

  • buen cierre.

  • @oldno7uk Only struggling with the left hand, oh and the right hand : )

Seriously I'm slowly getting my head around it- its just trying to fit the tab to the tune. I've had a go at De Usuahia a la Quiaca so I recognise the style of that repetitive arpeggio on the top strings. Now just need to get my fingers and brain to work together.

  • @oldno7uk Thanks for the quick response! I haven't heard them live, but it sounds like the Ronroco just has a fuller warmer sound, and while it's not the characteristic high trill of the charango, it's a much more versatile instrument. Like your version of Pajaros, btw.

  • YOU'RE THE ONE

  • @oldno7uk hahaha ohh ok dope. Yea but i think you pretty much have this song down perfectly! :) Good job man! :)
