ROMERO, CARLOS RAMON Tuesday February 5 saw the passing of a great man. Carlos was born on 11/4/43 in Chihuahua, Mexico. He was raised in El Paso, Texas, moving to New Mexico in 1970. There he met his future partner and wife, Carol Summers Romero. They served as VISTA Volunteers in Las Cruces.
They later lived in Santa Fe, where their three daughters were born, Daria in 1973, Victoria (1975) and Elena (1977). The "girls" were the light of Carlos' life. Albuquerque was the home of the Romero's for the last 25 years. Carlos was an addiction counselor at AMCI, serving as a mentor, friend and support to his co-workers and clients alike. Carlos was a graduate of the College of Santa Fe (but a UTEP Miner at heart).
He is survived by many friends, the "girls", their husbands Jason and Enrique and his seven beloved grandchildren, Aubriana, Summer, Patrick, Wayne, Andrew, Carlos and Benjamin. Carlos is also survived by his parents Gilbert and Juana of El Paso, Texas; his sister Toni Romero (Angelina) and Amy Bennet (Paul and Paul Michael) and his beloved cousin Victoria Rascon of Chihuahua and her family. He also leaves his aunt Leicha and cousin, Esther. He was preceded in death by his sister Maria and aunt Amalia.
Memorial service will be held at Our Lady Queen of Angels Liberal Catholic Church, 1701 Tulip Road NE, Rio Rancho on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 2:00 pm.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Carlos' favorite charity, Doctors Without Borders. For more information see memorial at http://carlosrromero.memory-of.com. The family thanks all of you for your love, prayers and support through this loss.
Carlos would want you to remember his jokes, advice and support and carry his goodness through each day of your life. He will be missed.
