This is the way I've been practicing since I began playing the guitar.

Jamming along with a track/song and trying to throw in licks and play all over the fretboard is very useful in expanding your fretboard knowledge!

There's a video of Guthrie Govan jamming on this track and I really dug the progression, so now I got it so I could jam on it-

It's available with many others on:
http://www.bluesjamtracks.com

No, I will not email you this backing track.

Amp: Fender Hot Rod DeVille
stompbox: Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face
Guitar: Fender 70's RI

  • If andody can mimmick Larry's style of play; you're amongst the best, if not the best!

  • The post Hendrix moments are my favorite parts. It's funny, because my favorites are Herbie Hancock, Michael Brecker, and Lennie Tristano. Ordinarily I would rather hear motivic modern jazz. I dug your sound, passion, and expressiveness, though.

  • @toodelsnoodelstin hahahahaha,you envious?

  • Very nice, bro. I stumbled on this and it kept my interest. Very nice tone, clean lines. Very impressive.

  • Very Good!!! Can u send Backing track to me? mist-burn@hanmail.net

  • at 2:14 it was like a rightchous personality thing and a yawn at the same time

  • where's larry?

  • You play GREAT. However, (and not to beat it to death) the title of this video is what? "Larry Carlton Style Guitar Solo." Carlton doesn't play like this - and even if you're just trying to lead people to the backing track, it's still outright deceptive to call it something it isn't. False advertising, maybe? Couldn't you call it, "Me, going nuts over what could have been a Carlton-type sound if I'd played Carlton-type lines?" Or, "Carlton Track Works for Straight Rock, Too"... Be fair.

  • u got a tube amp right? i can hear the tube distortion its sweet. i just downgraded from a half stack marshall to a fender champ 600 for recording.

  • great lick from 2:43 to 2:46. nice!
