This is one of a few virtual sets for NewsChannel 4.
This set is designed in such a way so that it works
for multiple virtual sets by simply changing the camera position.

  • Yes, that was done by master control at the station. I would have done it better myself with After effects, but since its done live i can't (i wanted to show what the viewing audience sees). Also, she is standing to close to the green screen, but the green screen we use for live broadcast is small. Good observation, most people don't notice it. Feel free to coment on my other animations too.

  • Yes, your right. The green wall in the studio is small. The camera is pulled out as far as it can without showing the edges. The virtual set looks better when the reporter is shown from head to mid-thigh. C-control compensates by having the reporter closer to the green screen (which I would rather they not do). I really want to shoot them on our pre-pro green screen wall/floor and key out using After Effects, but live news makes it impossible. Let me know what you think of my other pieces.

  • woow very good quality. which camera did you use for this?

    Nice video by the way.

  • Thanks,

The reporter was shot on the green screen in our studio using a

    Sony XDCAM EX PMW-EX3 Camcorder - professional - 1080p ( I believe).

I made the virtual set using Maya. I think I could key the green screen better with

after effects, but final shot in this clip was actual on air. I welcome feedback so feel free to comment on any of my other videos.

  • The footage of the girl wasn't keyed properly, there's spills around her that wasn't killed

  • She's standing to close to the green screen, which creates spill.

  • @3DMotionArtist Hey again Your video is superb and the best one i saw on youtube. I knew it you used a professional camera as there is no way you can achieve a quality like this on mini dv cameras. Notice you have shadows at the background when you shot the girl on the green screen but just coz you showed us no one can even tell. the job was very good indeed. also the model was good. I use 3dmax, carrara, after effects, trying to get a good studio model, but is hard man. Keep up the good work.
