This toon was nominated for an Oscar. Carl Barks was still working toons in 1941 and was one of the writers. In 1949, when he was doing only comics he reworked the story into a 8 pager also called Truant Officer Donald (Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #100 Jan 1949), but with without the death scene and with Donald using high tech gadgets, which the nephews sabotage, and a different take on the similar ending. It has been printed and reprinted countless times nationally & internationaly

@Serdikhan It seems to me Walt loved butt jokes. There was an internal censorship issue when Huey came down as an angel, some people at Disney wanted to cut it out as it seemed too gruesome. Barks and the other writers won out. Butt admittedly that cram shot at :32 was pretty crude.
