Olive-Wineglass Puzzler

Using a wineglass we show the plausibility of transferring an olive to a Martini glass without touching the olive. Here we model the olive first with a ping pong ball (about 4cm in diameter) and then a marble (about 1cm diameter). The experiment performed with an actual olive is left as an exercise.

Can someone tell me why this works? I would like to know for my science demo I am going in class.

@YippiyakandMaroo It's similar to a car going around a banked turn. For a given speed and radius of turn, you need a certain bank angle so that the car doesn't slip up or down the bank.

Since an olive is not spherical, give it a try! If you are able to keep it in the precise axis at all times it may work. Otherwise not so easy. LOL
