Its hard to imagine what these clothes would have looked like without those ironclad girdles beneath them!

@PureSoapCleans People can dress better but not many women miss tight girdles, stockings, and high heels. Also the petticoats were hot and stiff.

Women of those years wouldn't dare to get tatooes, and I am sure that they smelled wonderfully! Nowadays we are in a total decadence, comparing fashions, we are almost barbaric. Sad.

@dibbie67 ME TOO! I have a new love for it so now I buy vintage clothing it is so classy and beautiful. Everyone at school thinks its weird that i dress like that, but i could care less cuz i love the early 1900's :)

@kensingtonpalace I totally agree! It was a very classy time period. Now girls curse like saliors and dress like....well you know :( If i could go back in time, I go to the 1940's or 1950's ♥

@jungefrau - Good question. There was still an expectation that these women would be slim, but not size zero. Models then didn't have to be teenagers either, unlike today's models. Designers now want 'young' girls because they aren't fully developed and don't have a lot of hip, butt, and thigh weight.

i think the girls fashions of the 50's were the sexiest. left alot to the imagination and flattered the body rather than exposing it.
