KOF Klub: King Of Fighters 95: Omega Rugal

Okay, after a slight computer hiccup, I'm back to kick some keister.

Today, we're going to be looking at the black sheep of the KOF Klub's picks King of Fighters 95. I was never a big fan of 95, since it didn't change much, if at all, any formula that 94 previously established. It was nice to play as Eiji and Billy, but I never warmed to Iori

One thing it does get right is the Team Edit which is all sorts of awesome

But wait, this vid is about Rugal, right? So why digress? Let's roll

Once the players had smashed their way through many tough computer opponents, they get gassed in a locker room and taken to what looks like a missile silo...where Rugal introduces himself again. Despite the fact that he Wild Dog'd himself and his boat Blacknoah, he is back and not happy with his loss. Firstly he sics Kyo Kusanagi's dad Saisyu on you. Saisyu's not too unbearable and he's seen off without difficulty.

But then Rugal comes in. After talking some trash, he flexes his muscles and BAM. His shirt EXPLODES, he buffs up SUPER MANLY like, his hair goes white and all over the gaff and he gets HARDER THAN 94.

Rugal is now known in this game as "Omega Rugal", because of the honking great Greek symbol on his back. He is also double hard in most respects.

Unlike 94, though, he is readily playable, provided the player knows how to put it in....no, not like that. A cheat code will allow you to play as Rugal as much as you want. Its fun to play with power.

Ah, you want his movelist. Well, alrighty then, you get a movelist.

Reppuken: QCF and any Punch Button

Geese's special. We've seen this one plenty of times

Kaiser Wave: Forward, HCF and any Punch Button

Krauser's Fatal Fury 2 DM. This one's easier than Krauser's one.

Genocide Cutter: QCB, Up-backward and any Kick Button (Yeah, I know its awkward.)

Rugal's very own move. Its a nasty piece of work with high priority

Reflector: QCB and any Kick button

Reminiscent of Athena's reflector. IT can also damage anyone who touches it.

God Press: HCB and any Punch Button

Rugal slides forward and slams you into a wall. He loved this move in 94

DESPERATION MOVE:

Gigantic Pressure: HCBx2, Low Kick and High Punc. (I'm not sure if thats

Think God Press with a skull pillar at the end.

Now, I bet you wanna know, "How can I be Rugal? TELL ME NAO" Well, here it is, the Rugal Unlock Code ALL FOR YOU

On the character select screen, select "Yes" on Team Edit, and hold the Start Button. Got it? Good. Then press Up and Weak Kick, Right and Strong Punch, Left and Low Punch and Down and High Kick. With that, Rugal and Saisyu will appear on the select screen, happily available. Now you can play as the almighty Rugal himself....or Saisyu if thats your thing.

I've got to say I like Rugal's Omega 95' look a HELL OF A lot better then his Omega looks in 98 and 2002(Although I will say I like those Bolts on his back when you used and held down His Kaiser Wave in 2002). They were awesome and all but you just can't beat a psychopath digging his own flesh in with his own hand! I'd say this and God Rugal(From CVS2) are his best looks appearance wise.

94-96 were my least favorites because of the gameplay. A lot of awesome characters got wasted on it.

Didn't think it was possible to like KOF 94 better than 95. Just the fact that they replaced the sports team with the rivals team is enough to give it the edge. Not to mention the better backgrounds, better music, and (slightly) faster gameplay of 95.

...and when facing Saisyu and Rugal in the end (even when selecting them as opponents), they rape the shit outta him!? Another difference is that CPU Rugal jumps into the screen where as Player Rugal appears on one knee.

Dont know if its a bug, or the game was created like so...

Personally, my fav KOF of all time!...where the DMs and SDMs are so unstable that u do not know how much they take out. :D

And Omega Rugal is my fav boss in KOF history! Badass!

The only disappointment (hope its not just me) is that if you all look at ALL the KOFs, when playing with the final boss, u get to see how powerful their moves are and how they're shielded greatly...the only exception is kof 95. When playing with O. Rugal, he's got some power, where as his shield is normal to shitty...

KOF95 no doubt about, is the best KOF's. well designed, great sound, all good. 94 Home (original play, great)/ 95 Best/ 96 - Great Graphics and sound, but with the gameplay changed, it was very weird/ 97 - Good gameplay, but horrible sound / 98 - Very good, but the style was just coming into Japanese Manga / 99 - Very mellow, starting to run out of style / 00 - Japanese Manga, SNK left the project (an inestimable loss) / 01 - Japanese Manga 02 - Japanese Manga .... It was never like before ...
