  • problem- what if the number 82 was 62? to borrow from its tens value would take it to 52 and you got nothing to borrow for it to take the 6 from.

  • @itchytastyurr Hi. For 82-62 you don't need to borrow as you can do 2-2. This is a really good point as some students just getting into borrowing tend to overdo it and borrow when they don't need to. When we get to Stage 3 (Yrs 5 and 6) we also get into negative numbers so we can even do 62-65 in a meaningful way. Cheers to you.
