they started hunting humans because the workers who built the railroad to mombasa thew there dead into the bush.. and Tsavo being somewhat scarce in food, the lions found an easy meal, and so started hunting humans..

i hate it when people talk stuff they have no sense in.... normal savanna lions have thick manes to display themselves to females, the land in tsavo is not so savanna.. it is thorn-bush like short grass land... that makes a large mane not particle and over a long time their manes retreated... sometimes its not that they dont have manes but that hey are really short... nothing to do with them hunting humans,

@acousticLU Well, the meat of the man didn't provide them with their nutritional needs, and that made their manes grow shorter. And Tsavo as thick brush, so while passing throug the remaining hair on their mane was ripped off by thorns and brambles.

@HyenaWolf123 r u some kind of lion expert? (i dont mean it in an offensive way) i just wanna know more lol. so they dont have manes cuz theres not enough nutrition around? and the fact that they were man eaters didnt help them? and by saying that it had something to do with the dense brush.. that meant they didnt need manes for camouflage or sumtn??

@royaltornado since they were man eaters they eren't getting enough nutrition. That, combined with the dense brush in Tsavo, caused their manes to stop growing.
