So sick people who are unable to pay for their helathcare don't deserve it because they didn't "work for it"? That is the most backwards thing I've ever heard of.

If accessible health care is a step towards socialism, then bring on the socialism. EVERYONE deserves free healthcare.

Actually while the United States may have some of the best DOCTORS and TREATMENT facilities, this does not equal the best HEALTH CARE, health care refers to the ability of the population to receive care when they need it. In the US this means you have to have MONEY. Seeing as any major hospital stay can see bills in the tens if not hundreds of thousands I would say this is out of reach for a lot of the middle to lower classes. Get YOUR facts straight. Healthcare SHOULD be free.

@moraltraitor My mother didn't smoke and lived all but 5 yrs of her life on a farm or in a country village. She got lung cancer. But she got treatment worth $10,000s, but it didn't cost her a cent. Luckily for her she lived in Australia. No, our health care is not free, but it is universal. My taxes and my Medicare levy paid for her health care. I do not begrudge her or any other person in this country that care - even for the morons. It's the price you pay for being civilised

Say an individual has unprotected sex and catches an STD, smokes a pack a day and develops lung cancer, or gets behind the wheel while intoxicated and crashers the car. With all the warnings out there about the scenarios mentioned above, does that person deserve their healthcare expenses paid on the public dime for being A COMPLETE MORON? BTW, stop saying "free health care", because it's not free no matter where you go. Just because your not paying out of pocket doesn't mean someone else isn't.
