Yes, she has sever rheumatoid arthritis. The change in her appearance is largely due to a drug called prednisone. It is a cortio / steroid and causes widening of the face among other things. She is to be admired for her spirit. It has made her look older than her years but she returned to the screen anyway. Great gutsy gal. Those who are mocking should sympathise instead and hope they don't come down with a dreadful disease like this.

i love love love kathleen turner!!! im 16 years old and if i had one wish it would be to meet her. not so much because of this snippet on californication but because i love her movies! there awesome. so sad that she got arthritis :(

I only came here because I heard some snippet from an interview with Kathleen Turner and wanted to make sure she was really talking in that silly way. why do people mock gossip and put others down? are their lives so worthless? they have this tall poppy syndrome which is so ugly, they put others down because of their own lack of self love and success.

@Coupal1 Yes, indeed it needs much more research. It is a particularly insidious, hideous disease. It is still a complete mystery to medicine. It occurs when the immune system, which of course normally fights infection to ward off illness, suddenly decides that Ur joint lining material is the enemy ! It then starts dispatching millions of antibodies to destroy the joints. It is actually one of the many illnesses that are likely to see great advances if stem cell research proceeds.

@gcmc2 I was shocked by the change in her appearance when I saw this recent video on Kathleen Turner. When I found out that she has rheumatoid arthritis and is taking prednisone, I realized why. A friend's daughter also has an autoimmune disease and took prednisone when she was only 13. It changed her appearance also. There is so much more research that needs to be done! Thanks for the info.
