No I just put the cap on the end and give it a good shake.

when u do the nitrate test, do u hold your finger over the open end of the tube with the cap, cuz when i dont and i start shaking for the minute some of the solution escapes.

@Baja617 sorry this response is a bit late. Better late than never though right?! ;)
If all you are keeping is fish, I wouldn't worry too much about those numbers, but don't let them keep climbing. Inverts are much more susceptible to my knowledge.

Is a Nirite level of 0.25 ok because it is really close to Zero Please rspond

@Baja617 "OK" is a relative term. Ideally you want it to read 0. Under those rules .25 is high (as clearly it is above zero). In my experience it depends some on what you are keeping. So... what are you keeping? For corals and inverts, in my opinion, you will want to strive for 0. For fish only it is ok to go a little higher.

Would need a little more info. on your tank to help much, but getting set up with some macro algae has always helped me.
