Kris, thank you for awakening one of the great concepts put forth by Wild Bill Mehlhorn in the 1930's. The elbows must be engaged in the golf swing. Wild Bill by the way was Hogan's idol "Hero" and believe that you can't do much without using your elbows. Try drinking a cup of tea! You can spin a rock on a string faster if the string is shorter. Big radius is overrated. Fast things happen in tighter circles. A bit of bend in the left arm acts as a circuit breaker for over acceleration.
