They marketed her in the same way they did Anna Kournikova, but with a huge difference: unlike Kournikova, Maria can ACTUALLY PLAY TENNIS! Kournikova was just a hot babe who looked great in tennis whites. She was always seeded in the top tourneys despite the fact that she never, you know, actually WON any of them. Meanwhile, if it weren't for the two Williams sisters, Sharapova would be the number one female tennis player in the world.
