Stick News:More daylight savings in US

I got permission from Charles Kelly to use some questions from the quizzes he has written for a4esl.org

There are many useful quizzes on that site.

The questions in today's questionanswer are the first five questions from this quiz:
http://a4esl.org/q/h/mc006-ck.html

Please go and try the rest of that quiz if think you need more practice of these kinds of questions.

  • I can figure out the rest, but why are the Jews not happy about DST?

  • This is from the Reuters article: "Orthodox Jews, who wait until sunrise to say morning prayers, lobbied against the provision".

  • In case you haven't heard, there is a new phenomenon called GLOBAL WARMING!

  • That noise at the end of the first part of Conversations With Sarah scared me! I thought it was coming from my apartment. I can't believe it's snowing there; it's getting warm and springlike in my neck of the woods!

  • I agree. It may used to have saved energy, but I don't know if that's the case anymore. I'd like to see some proof. Also, I think it's dangerous for people to commute to work with the lack of sleep; it takes about a week on average for people to recover from the time change, and a sleepy driver is more likely to get in a wreck than someone who's had a few drinks.

  • I don't like summer time/DST very much. It causes confusion and sleep deprivation every year :(

And I don't believe that it saves any energy.

  • I like DST, here in Oz we call it Day Light Saving. If I was an Orthodox Jew I would convert to, lets say BWS, that way I wouldn have to wait for the Sun to raise so I could say morning prayers. I suppose it gives a whole new meaning to "Morning Glory".

  • Clever Question/Answer today, Sarah. It took me a while to figure out what you were getting at (what does that say about me?) XD
