If a teenage girl really doesn't want to tell her parents that she's having an abortion, wouldn't there be a reason? Parents don't need to be abusive to damage their children. While one might expect a parent to have "a clearer head", it is an emotional situation. Someone who has known since the beginning may be able to make a much more rational decision than her parents.

I think it's wrong to patronize teenagers and strip them of rights based on the assumption that age determines competence.

I couldn't agree more! FINALLY someone who understands, because more often than not, I get replies from these anti-choice zealots who make all sorts of excuses to justify putting a rape victim through 9 more months of hell to give birth to a rapist's child "it's not the baby's fault the mother got raped, blahblahblah", they think ONLY of the rape fetus and not the poor rape victim herself, how cruel and inhumane. All PC laws should be abolished in any states in which they are present for sure.

I agree. It's their body and they shold be the ones to choose to put it through having a kid or not, especially if its not their fault they're pregnant in the first place.

The last thing they need is a parent to chck them on the streets or tell them no, or have to wait for a judges approval. It adds so much pressre to the kid.

What if a girl under the age of 18 was raped and got pregnant and her parents just so happen to be religious fanatics? Then they would force her to have the baby, force her through 9 months of more pain and suffering, and they wouldn't even care. Trust me, if you had ANY idea the kind of vastness of these violent and horrific acts, you would realize that, not only SHOULD they be able to get an abortion, but they shouldn't need anyone's consent for doing it.

This is the stupidest, most illogical thing I've ever heard. When parents bury their heads in the sand, they're not doing a very good job of keeping their teens safe.

Kimmy: Most teens with secure family relationships will tell their parents anyway. What about teens in abusive homes? What about incest? All prop 4 would do is cause them to get back-alley abortions, which present, le gasp, even MORE risks!

Parents should have full authority over a minor under the age of 18.

Taking away a parents right of being informed before a serious medical procedure is done is just stupid and wrong, because, that child is the parents responsibility.

Aboration is already killing the baby, and a chance of killing themselves.
