If you think about, i don't really think hendrix was as AMAZING as everyone thinks, i like DMB more, hendrix may have had a lot of skill and soul, but i think dave has Plenty of skill and plenty more soul, and dave is a fucking poet have u hear his lyrics,

no chords in a dave matthews band song? really? besides for a handful of songs with these "funky rythems" you speak of (what would you say, ryhme & reason, satellite) most dmb song use quite a bit of chords. like bartender, lie in our graves, two step, #41 (live), ants marching, granny.
Mayer has also stated numerous times that SRV compelled him to pick up a guitar and he's the guitar player today because he isn't Hendrix.
Never said i didn't like DMB, i don't like a lot of their new stuff.

granted dave isnt a hendrix but if you play his shit you should know dave doesnt actually play chords he basically makes up his funky rythems and mayer has stated numerous times dave is one of his highest influences get your shit straight
