Burning Man '09 - 6. The Temple (& a Playa Wedding)

The Temple on the Playa. Burners write tributes and messages, often to departed loved ones. The burning of the temple on Sunday night has become a highlight of the entire Burning Man experience. Many people release all sorts of grief and pain with the temple burn.

This year's temple was designed and built by a group in Texas. They used CNC machining to create the elaborate designs. By all accounts, this year's temple was the most stunning yet.

On this particular day, a wedding took place outside the temple, a note of joy in an otherwise somber space.

There are a bunch of giant arty raves at the clubs and discos, so if you're into that it's plentiful. But many people just go to set up their "living rooms" and hang out and meet people. I met people of all ages, not all of whom chose to do E and dance the night away!
