As the security situation in Afghanistan worsens, there's growing recognition of the importance of reconstruction. After their school in Lashkagar was destroyed, pupils turned to heroin. "Sadly, it's not looking at all good", laments a former teacher. After the Taliban destroyed his school, he became a farm worker. But his concerns are for former pupils. "They get up to all sorts of trouble. Many have become addicted to heroin". Although filmed a year ago, this report remains extremely pertinent.

westerners have right to this land also but not to drive people from their land. WHat i am getting at is afghanistan will benefit from modernization and ridding the terrorists and weapons. A british government ruled afghanistan would be much better for everybody. you have to remember that afghanistan is a country that other people will need also. get rid of the terrorists and weapons and modernize the place. Imagine if afghanistan was like canada. that would be great.

it's basic economics....you rid the Poppy fields and the money produced from the Evilest drug in the world..But the U.S needs the poppy to produce it's medicines like oxycontin....Ahhhhh maybe that's why they dont burn the crops,ever think of that...

@cricket0707, Tajikistan belongs to Tajiks - but so does the rest of what was Khurasan - no matter how the Russians and the British colonialists have chopped and renamed pieces of their homeland with tribal names. Lashkargah - Bust - Nimorz - and even into Baluchistan - are all parts of old Khurasan - the homeland of Tajiks. If you tribals had any real history - you would not run away from the real history of that region.
