did u guys have some corn hit with frost down east? What kind of corn was it that had a bad grade? Im just askin cause all the farms around here had great grades for th most part we had almost 2000 acres of grade 2 mostly.
Yea, we had an early frost. Nothing black layered, it was mighty close, but the frost forced a brown layer. Corn averaged about 29% and grade 4 coming into the elevator. We managed to ship 75% of the corn as grade 2 and the rest grade 3 by intensive bin monitoring and blending. I got my exorcise this winter going into each bin and sampling the corn every morning to see what I needed to mix to get the grade. I got pretty good at it by the last contract. We got lucky.
how many bins do you have?

At the main elevator, 10 storage bins, 3 wet bins, and a fines bin.
Then there are 5 little bins around the countryside we use as well.
