Mental illness is a an illness like any other. If some one had cancer would they need a 12 step program?

this is just a brain washing that keeps ignorance alive.

Why don't you tell me to stop taking my meds and go to church while you're at it?

But I understand that Connection isn't for everyone. But sitting around with your peers and trying to give answers or solve each others problems, or successes, is VERY empowering.

I hope you'll give it another chance. You're a year older and that seems to be what you need the most.

Structure is good. I've been to groups that were free-for-alls. They were very helpful with folks talking over each other & disrespecting each other. I'll take a little structure over that. Nobody tells you what to do in NAMI. We're adults for crying out loud.

So what questions do you have about confidentiality & NAMI? When you attend a Connection group, you agree to certain guidelines. Number 3 is "Absolute confidentiality." What you do after you leave, reflects on you.

Yeah I keep track of the members in my affiliate. They joined. They paid dues. They want a newsletter. I can't send it to them without an address. Nobody forces me to use ANY label and I've never told anybody to call themselves anything. I'm not going to speak for NAMI, but nobody cares what you call yourself.
