There is a definite advantage to having a coated tablecloth versus a cotton tablecloth. With an untreated, cotton tablecloth it is likely that it will not last very long. Be realistic, every meal is an opportunity for a spill on your tablecloth. It is inevitable that someone will have an accident that will forever stain your new tablecloth if it is uncoated. This is why I recommend coated tablecloths to all of my customers. With a coated tablecloth there is no concern for spills and no need to worry about accidents - as we all know that they are going to happen anyway. With my coated French tablecloths from Provence, when someone spills wine or food onto my coated tablecloth I just laugh and wipe it off. There is no reason to be concerned that your investment in a fine French tablecloth from Provence will be ruined in a single meal. Always choose the coated tablecloth.
