Well, I thought I was the only one that fully enjoyed this record. It's powerful masterpiece. My lonelyness was blown away when I saw a Swedish documentary decades ago about Per Henrik Wallin (RIP) great piano player and composer. When they interviewed him at his home he played this record. I was not lonely anymore.

My god, this is so good

You just can't understand a song like this unless your a musician. A guarantee john couldn't care less what you guys think of this music. Thats not what real music is about. Listening to this music is like witnessing a day in the life of John Coltrane, and if you dont care to watch, you dont have to listen.

the true is hard to digest

@FunkySkunk90 "You say you're loving John Coltrane but it seems you don't love every expression of this artist." I'm sorry, what's the purpose of this sentence? It sounds as if you think one can't love Coltrane if one doesn't love his every expression. That view just sounds like blind idolatry to me.

The world is. and i like it like that. one love

hey everyone, it's called free jazz. it's not for the faint of ear. a drum solo over john coltrane playing whatever the hell he wants is far outside the standard definition of pop music, but some people find it interesting, and it takes a lot of talent to play. personally i don't like it, but i will respect its right to be listened to.

coltrane is the seminal tenor saxophonist. he stands at the pinnacle of the tenor experience, nothing before or since stands up to the singular entity that trane represents. that being said, sometimes you just have to be in a certain mood or frame of mind to enjoy atonal or free jazz, esp. when it is this cathartic, and as for me, that frame of mind occurs rarely. to compare this against anything else is a waste of time: in music noting is 'better' or 'worse' it is one's taste and mood...

@balarko24 you just REALLY don't get it

i think john coltrane should come back to life and challenge justin beiber and some of those other fuckers who say they are musicians and he should drill them into the fucking ground...

@jabbadooable Very well said.

Excellent music!

Geez..john coltrane's incredible expression and brutal power in this recording is why i consider him to be my favorite saxophonist of all time. Another reason why Coltrane is my favorite saxophonist is because every aspect of his playing was unique, and people still continue struggle to not only imitate his playing and sound, but they fail to understand coltrane's philosophies and spiritual reasons for presenting this unique display of art to us.

This wasn't meant to be heard with the ears.

@zack9922299 this is very coherent and intricate. if you liston a few times

Sometimes I think atonal music was trying to explode one's brain if one listened intently.
-
@balarko24 havent you ever heard the term "atonal?"
-
@balarko24 @balarko24 this is expression at its best so maybe yo need to forget about tonal centers because this is WAY beyond that.Coltrane was sooo much ahead of his time and looks like he still is..wake up this is 2011!!!!!!!!!!

Have your cup of coffee in the morning, a couple of drinks at night and never forget your daily prayer...A Love Supreme...A Love Supreme...A Love Supreme...

@dancing0being either you fail at reading comprehension or you are very high
@dancing0being
Well, 99% of the population live very standard and mediocre lives and expect nothing more from music than to lull them. Some people like things to challenge and stimulate them. I guess that can be seen as weird, not wanting the musical equivalent of candy all the time.

@balarko24
It's probably the greatest expression he's ever done. I don't understand your problem. You say you're loving John Coltrane but it seems you don't love every expression of this artist. Coltrane didn't play for you, neither for me or us, his style is far away from all the prejudices in music industry. He was a highly spiritual being searching for ways to express difficult emotions and thoughts. Anyway, you don't have to like it, I certainly do.
